The show that started my journey into the Performing Arts: ‘High School Musical‘

Cast of ‘Radium Girls’.

While acting was interesting I decided to try my hand at being run crew and then was asked to also design and apply SFX makeup for ‘Radium Girls’.
After that experience I fell in love with technical theatre. My next show was ‘Addams Family‘. In this show I got work more with stage makeup and jumped into the world of wigs.

‘Unfortunate Findings and Obscurities (UFO)’ was my first time as Stage Manager. I stepped in a few days before the run and called the show – without any prior experience. I also ran lights at the same time.

Fresh from my new experience of calling ‘UFO‘, I moved up the ranks to Assistant Stage Manager for my high school production of ‘Ramona Quimby‘.

On the heels of ‘Ramona Quimby’ I was asked to run a spotlight for ‘Mean Girls‘ at Village Theatre. I really enjoyed working with the other tech folks as well as helping the costume shop by picking up some sewing.

‘As You Like It’ was my first Shakespeare show and my second as Production Assistant and Assistant Stage Manager. I was also asked by my acting teacher to run crew and call cues for our acting class final presentations during the same time period.

I was back at Village Theatre for ‘A Wrinkle In Time‘. This time as a Wardrobe Assistant.
After the completion of A Wrinkle In time, I was back at it, in my high school theatre. Taking on for the third time the role of Production Assistant and Assistant Stage Manager for ‘Matilda‘. I was also tapped to create and maintain the wigs for the show.

The design of Mr. Wormwood’s wig which led to a second wig as well.

The second wig – Amanda Thrip’s dummy wig required that I make sure the wig was trimmed, braided, sewed, and stuck down even after the dummy was swung and thrown during each performance.

‘Les Misérables‘ was the largest production I have been a part of. As Stage Management Assistant for this Village Theatre show, I was able to attend rehearsals and gained more experience in running rehearsals, creating paperwork and working with actors and designers.

‘Duo-ly Noted‘ was my second production as Stage Manager.

I loved working with the other technical crew members. This original production was one of the greatest; bonding both tech members and actors together.
